The magic of Hong Kong cinema returns to Dubai as the Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation (HKFGP) celebrates its fifth edition from November 8 to 12, 2025, bringing the vibrant storytelling and creative spirit of Hong Kong to the UAE.
Presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) in collaboration with Cinema Akil, the region’s only independent arthouse cinema, the festival promises an inspiring lineup of seven films — spanning heartfelt dramas, gripping thrillers, documentaries, and reimagined classics. Screenings will take place at Cinema Akil in Alserkal Avenue and 25hours Hotel Dubai, turning both venues into a hub for film lovers and cultural exchange.
Supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDAHK), the Film Development Fund (FDF), and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai (HKETO), the 2025 edition continues to strengthen the cultural bridge between Hong Kong and the UAE through storytelling, artistry, and dialogue.
“The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation has become a platform for creative exchange—a celebration of the cinematic language that connects cultures,” said a representative from AFAA.
Audiences can expect a blend of modern creativity and classic influence, reflecting Hong Kong’s evolving identity in the world of film. Each screening will offer a window into the city’s distinct style—from the tension of its thrillers to the emotional depth of its human dramas.
Beyond the films, the event will include panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and networking opportunities for filmmakers, students, and industry professionals, fostering an environment where East meets West through the shared love of cinema.
